Graduate Certificate

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies provides focused, graduate-level study of biblical content and interpretation, designed to give students a strong understanding of the Bible so that they are able to interpret and teach Scripture with confidence. The program gives attention to the overarching message of the Bible together with an exposition of the sections of Scripture which will allow students to integrate scriptural truth into ministry, teaching, and Christian discipleship. This certificate may be completed as a standalone credential or in conjunction with a graduate degree program.

Objectives

  • Articulate a strong understanding of selected books of the Old and New Testaments, including their content, structure, and theological message.
  • Interpret biblical texts using a consistent literal, grammatical, contextual, and historical hermeneutic.
  • Explain and evaluate key tenets of biblical doctrine and significant theological trends within the broader context of Christian theology.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the content and critical issues of the Old and New Testaments from a conservative evangelical perspective.
